Very cool story. Given the KHL's unstable times, I am not surprised he took the guarenteed 1M AAV per year. Good signing for both sides and now the guy gets to live his NHL dreams.

Know nothing about the guy, but this is right up GMBM's alley. He likes to give people from other leagues chances on the cheap to see if they can transition to the NHL. Some turn out well like Hiller (hard to argue with that signing); others, like Hakanpaa, aren't slam dunks.

I don't mind it and I don't think it's a strain on the youngsters' playing time either. But it does make you question what the plan is for the right side. Didn't Cam start his career out on the right side before switching to his more comfortable left side?

Hopefully this guy transitions well and we can get a powerplay QB on the cheap - or even turn him into assets for the rebuild/retool

I'll be honest and say I'm not sure which side Fowler started on. He can play right side, but I'd say it's probably not ideal to play him there long-term IMO.

But yeah, always a good move to get some extra assets, especially in a retool.

Doesn't fill a position of need but hey, the more depth, the better!
